J. Vance Lewis and Pauline Gray Lewis Home – 1218 Wilson Street

“Van Court,” this elegant historic home built in 1907, once belonged to prominent attorney and a national civil rights activist J. Vance Lewis and his wife Pauline. The couple’s philanthropic efforts supported many significant organizations in Houston that elevated the Black community.

The home needs $200,000 to complete the restoration as a Museum of Legal Professions and Educators.
